Joyful Savory Scones:

Mix together 2 cups of whole wheat pastry flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. sea salt, 3/4 tsp. ground Savory, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, 1/4 cup chopped dates, 3 Tb. sugar or 2 Tb honey, 1/4 cup oil or melted butter and enough milk (soy, rice or cow) to make a stiff dough. Knead 13 times before forming a tight ball with the dough. Flatten the ball to about 1 inch then cut into 8 triangles. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 30 minutes or until nicely browned. These are wonderful served with jam and thick whipped creme or tofu creme (1 package firm tofu, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, 1 tsp. lemon juice and 3 tsp. sugar, 3 minutes or more on high in a food processor or blender, until very smooth). These are guaranteed to bring joy to your gathering.
