About Karma

Being modern people, living in a modern age, we should allow ourselves to use whatever technology is available to better ourselves...and so enters the digital Prayer Wheel. Prayer Wheels are used by Tibetan Buddhists to purify themselves, as well as the entire world of its accumulated negative Karma. Within each prayer wheel is a parchment, paper or some other medium (microfilm, microfiche, etc.) on which a mantra (a sacred utterance) has been inscribed many times over. The Prayer Wheel's typical mantra is OM MANI PADME HUM, which Tibetans pronounce: Om Mani Pémé Hung.

In English this means "the jewel in the lotus of the heart". This is a reference to the hidden spark of divinity within each of us. The six syllables of the mantra are said to purify the six negative emotions: pride, jealousy, desire, ignorance, greed, and anger, while simultaneously referencing the six qualities of the enlightened heart: generosity, harmonious conduct, endurance, enthusiasm, concentration, and insight.

These are the basics regarding the Tibetan concept of Karma, which also applies to Wiccans, as The Rule of Three or The Threefold Rule (do harm and it comes back to you three times worse, but do good, and you're rewarded three times, though these punishments and rewards may come to you in a mysterious or unknown way or even in a future lifetime). The belief in Karma...put more simply, "What goes around, comes around," is one of the most important Wiccan beliefs. We'll discuss this further, at a later time, but for now, please take advantage of this wonderful Tibetan Prayer Wheel.

To save the spinning image to use on your own site or in emails, simply right click on the Wheel, select "Save Image As", and a box will open, promting you to save the image to your Picture file. Once there, you may copy and paste the "gif" as needed.

Each spin of the wheel "speaks" the mantra, and each time the mantra is spoken, negative Karma is being cleansed. Further, once the wheel has been saved on your computer, your hard drive will continuously spin the wheel. Since hard drives spin their disks many thousands of revolutions per minute, that's a lot of Karmic cleansing. In this day and age, with the World's Karma being so stressed with war and hatred, every positive act, however small, may be helpful. Even His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, agrees that this digital, computer version of the Prayer Wheel will work in the traditional way.

And here is the actual script written on the wheel, should you wish to create your own...

And here's another version of the spinning wheel, yet equally effective, should you prefer a more modern look...
